Halloween Hallow's Countdown Calendar

I bought this mostly for my two kids (7 and 10) but honestly I look forward to it as much as they do. We open one door with breakfast every morning and they argue over who gets to do it. The figures are the real surprise. I assumed cheap hollow plastic, but they're solid, properly painted, and each one is actually different. My daughter lined hers up on her windowsill and they're still there in November. Only note is that the doors are a little stiff to open, so I've been doing the ones for the younger one. Would buy again next year without thinking about it.

I collect this kind of thing, so I went in skeptical. Most countdown boxes are filler with two decent pieces and twenty-two bits of junk. This isn't that. The sculpting has real character, the paint application is clean, and the vintage colour palette stays consistent across the whole set instead of the usual mix of random bright plastic. A few favourites are genuinely display quality. I gave the second box to a friend and then wished I'd kept it for the duplicates. The one thing to know going in is that it's 24 doors, not 31, despite the name on the box. Didn't bother me, but I'd have liked to know beforehand.

I'm 52, no kids at home, and I bought this for myself. Halloween has always been my favourite and I was tired of it being one evening. Having something small to do every day for most of the month changed that. It sounds silly but the little ritual is the whole point. Coffee, open a door, put the figure on the shelf, and by the end of the month you've built up this whole strange little crowd. They stay out year round on my bookcase now and guests always ask about them. Shipping was quick, box arrived undamaged, everything intact.
